Uhuru   Campaign to Fight Malaria

Malaria is a leading cause of child mortality in Africa, killing many children each year. Children under 5 are most vulnerable to malaria because they have not developed immunity to the disease yet. Children under 5 are especially vulnerable, accounting for 80% of malaria deaths on the continent in 2020. Around 481,500 children lost their lives to this deadly disease in Africa over the last year alone.

Factors that contribute to malaria in children

  • Poverty: Poverty is a major factor in the spread of malaria.
  • Place of residence: Where a child lives can impact their risk of malaria.
  • Access to mosquito nets: Children who sleep under insecticide-treated mosquito nets are less likely to get malaria.
  • Housing conditions: The materials used to build a home can impact a child's risk of malaria.
  • Anemia: Children with anemia are more likely to get malaria.
  • Women's education: A child's mother's education level can impact their risk of malaria.

This campaign to fight Malaria is very dear to us. The original amount was to raise $1000 by February 16, but due to slower donations. public support and matching funds. The drive amount has been raised to $3000, and the deadline has been extended to April 16. deadline

                           The Malaria campaign concludes

The malaria campaign was organized to celebrate the Director's birthday. We firmly believe that taking action aligns with Uhuru's mission. For those unfamiliar, malaria is a highly fatal disease transmitted through mosquito bites. The campaign aimed to raise $1,000, with an additional $3,000 in matching funds from sponsors upon reaching that goal. Unfortunately, we didn’t meet the $1,000 target, although our sponsors generously contributed $500. It was disappointing to have fallen short of our goal after two months of dedicated effort, as the campaign lasted for that entire period.

We raised a total of $1,300, which falls significantly short of our anticipated goal of $3,000, as we had hoped to secure the matching funds from our sponsor. This campaign will be conducted annually as a vital part of our mission to combat the spread of malaria. The funds will be allocated for medical supplies. The funds will be disbursed ASAP, through the Ministry of Health.
