UHURU FOTBALL ACADEMY
UHURU OFFICIALS AND BOARD MEMBERS

Winston Jacobs
CEO/ president/Board Chairman
Winston Jacobs is the visionary founder of Uhuru Academy. His profound influence on the lives of children from underprivileged backgrounds began long before Uhuru was established. He served as the director of the urban soccer program for the Cleveland International Soccer Club. This initiative had three key objectives: 1- to introduce soccer to the urban community, 2- to identify exceptional student-athletes from the broader Cleveland metropolitan area and its surroundings, and 3- to help them compete at an elite level with the international S.C. The program proved successful, with over 100 young players transitioning into elite-level youth competition while maintaining outstanding academic performance.
After three years, Winston resigned to focus on developing Uhuru, which shares the vision of offering educational and sports opportunities to underserved communities. Following the establishment of Uhuru in Ohio in 2011, the chance to relocate to Arizona for the expansion of Uhuru became an irresistible opportunity.
Following the relocation to Arizona, the inaugural program introduced at Uhuru was the Elite Pro Training, designed exclusively for female athletes. This program quickly became the cornerstone of Uhuru and achieved remarkable success, standing out as the most distinguished program in the academy's history. Over the past decade, the Elite Pro Training has nurtured more than 300 exceptional student-athletes, many of whom have gone on to compete at the Division 1 college level in some of the country's most renowned institutions.
Following the success of Uhuru in Arizona, the organization chose to broaden its horizons internationally. The first destination was the Republic of Cameroon. Recently, Uhuru has inaugurated an additional satellite school in Liberia.
