Uhuru Arizona F.C
The Era of Uhuru began in 2010 with a mission to support underserved communities worldwide through the power of Education and Sports.
Even before becoming an official organization, the founding members of Uhuru were already making a difference in children's lives in the areas of education, sports, health, family development, and volunteerism in underserved communities. Supporters of the organization had been contributing funds prior to its transition to a 501(c)(3) status, allowing for a broader reach to more families through a streamlined organizational structure with a clear and cohesive message.
The Transition to a Football club
The transition was driven by the parents, over a two year period with much resistance from me and the board.
They felt the time is right for Uhuru to become a club. Club purpose To provide prepare player with the Technical, Tactical Mental and Physical skills required to compete at the ECNL successfully. Age group 8-12. We are expected to start competing in 2024 season.
This will come in III fold
I-The Move and the founding of Uhuru
II-Establishing an identity in Arizona
III-The transition to a Football club
In 2014 three years after the founding of Uhuru Football Academy(UFA) I move to Arizona as an opportunity of expending UFA . We felt there was not any more room left for growth in Ohio for me.
1- The Move and Founding of Uhuru
Uhuru was founded to introduce football to kids in the inner city and provide education opportunities through football to kids that have the talent to compete at the highest level, but couldn't afford to due to finances, UFA become and international org, by recognizing that a lot of the kids that were coming through were immigrants from Africa.
It was time for a change and a challenge.
To be honest the challenge of starting something in a new environment was just too hard to resist.

After 15 years of coaching at one of the premier youth club in the country Cleveland Int'l F.C. Coaching and mentoring countless of future college and professional. At international F.C I had the opportunity to coach, and mentor in the development of players such as Darlington Nagbe, Columbus crew, Jonny Nelson, St Louis City Saad Abdul Salaam, Columbus Crew. F.C, just a few footballers that went on to the professional level. In 2014 three years after the founding of Uhuru Football Academy(UFA) I move to Arizona as an opportunity of expending UFA . 2- Establishing An Identity In Arizona
Over the last 9 years, UFA have grown beyond our wildest imagination. Uhuru decided to focus on the development of female footballers. We felt that is where we could make the greatest impact in Arizona.
Over 2,500 girls have trained at UFA in the last 9 years. Uhuru had have girls that have gone on to make USWNT, premier Division I college teams, Regional teams, ECNL teams. ODP teams.
Through all the coming and going of players through our program. We never veered away from our core principles. The players are individual first and footballers second.
The plan is simple treat the players with respect and challenge them in every training sessions to be the best version of themselves.
